RANT

Golf is rapidly becoming a more athletic sport. It has been questioned to even be a sport, but now golfers are working out in the gym up to 5 hours twice a day. Tiger Woods is the sole reason for golfers becoming athletes. His performance outweighs the competition just like Tyson outweighed competitors in the ring. Woods entered his rookie season in 1996 with the idea that he would train himself like an NFL linebacker.

People question Tiger's reign as the best player in the world because of the current level of competition. From the 60's to the 80's Players such as Jack Nickalus, Gary Player, and Tom Watson were always favoured to win the majors because of their unbelievable talent. Golf Courses are up to 800 yards longer than when those players reigned. Now however anyone in the field has a chance to win a major, because of how athletic the players are. The athleticism that a golfer must acquire to win a major is astronomical. Woods will always have the edge on his competition as he is one of the most disciplined athletes in the world and clearly the best golfer.

Tiger transformed the sport and is now permanently ahead of any other player in any given field. Arnold Palmer made golf boring to fun, and Tiger has made it fun to cool. Even the likes of Michael Jordan have praised Tiger to be the best golfer ever, and even possibly the best athlete. Golf has lacked 2 things in the past, excitement and athleticism. Tiger has brought the two and made them a mandatory part of the sport. His charisma and talent have transformed golf from a pass time to a new and exciting sport.

All I can say is Tiger Woods is the name of the game. Indeed that sounds cliche but he has made golf into a new super human sport. 350 yard drives, 68 scoring average per year, and 13 majors at the age of 30 are a few impressive accomplishments that Tiger brings to the tour every year. As Tiger says, "Records are ment to be broken, thats why they're records", and records will be made so long Tiger is in the field. Anyway all I can say is appreciate what is happening in golf right now, it may never happen again.

Top 3.

Golf technology is continually advancing, especially drivers. 2008's line of 460cc drivers is outstanding. Brands such as Titleist, Nike, and Callaway set the bar for quality every year.

Titleist leans towards a more traditional look which tend to be for more advanced players. The 907 D2 driver from Titleist is an expensive but very price worthy golf club. It has an increased moment of inertia which results in a longer ball flight with more shot control. MOI is the club head's resistance to twisting on off-center impact (i.e., heel, toe, high, or low). Nike is constantly pushing the limits of club design.

The Nike SUMO Squared driver has a massive 460cc club head with a square design. The SUMO design maxes out all USGA limits which regulate MOI, volume and impact efficiency. Though it is obviously has the best technological advancements possible, it's design looks like a shoe box. However its efficiency makes up for its appearance.

Callaway has followed Nike on its path for modern science and the limits of the USGA. The Callaway Ft-i driver is designed to be the world's straightest driver. It includes the square design for a very high MOI. Though it's club design has been very effective as to what Callaway has sought of for, its appearance is attrocious. It also looks like a shoe box. The three drivers are all very effective in their own way.

The Titleist 907 D2 is the best club for a more advanced player seeking for shot workability, and the Callaway and Nike designs are best offered to the higher handicapper looking for more accuracy and distance. 2008's line of drivers are definetly the best ever. I'm sure next year's will be even better.

Whatever I Want

Nirvana has and always will be a band remembered for not caring about people caring. Their edgy lyrics were always pushing the limits in a world of conformity. Lyrics addressing anarchy are constant in Nirvanas songs, "With the lights out it's less dangerous Here we are now, entertain us". The fuel they are driven by is from people who disagree on the position they chose as musicians. Feelings of intimidation through Curt Cobains' lyrics are put forth as he wants to show society he doesnt care about society, "Load up on guns and bring your friendsIt's fun to lose and to pretend"
